She Spoke In Metaphores

She spoke in a poetic word

Many a rhyme was heard

So many a lovely verse

Just a few pleasantries , at first

<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

But she was speaking in metaphors!

We talked of poetic lines

Blank verse, simple rhymes

She talked on many subjects of

And then she spoke of love

But she was speaking in metaphors!

I was dumb to her desire

As she tried to set a fire

And trap me in her web

Like a sea swelled, and ebbed.

But she was speaking in metaphors!

Ah, my dumb self was taken in

As a trapped animal in a pen

But when she thought I would go

It was my duty to let her know

I knew she was speaking in metaphors!

Her joy turned slightly awry

As she found she lost my eye

Tried to recover with a rhyme

But I pulled out my lasting line:

But she was speaking in metaphors.
