Let's put Ray Charles on the money
put his face on the ten dollar bill
Ronald Reagan was in no way funny
at least Ray gave us a musical thrill

reagan announced his campaign
from a small town in the south
known very well as headquarters
from where the KKK would shout.

he got into office and started
right away to dismantle labor
swooning with money bags
who danced around and savored.

nothing bout ronnie is funny
his rein gave me a hellava chill.

he closed the mental institutes
released ill folks to the street
then he got shot by one of them
but the job was not complete.

reagan  promoted ignorance
voted against all to help the poor
seemed to shove out folks
reaching for America's door.

Lets put Ray Charles on the money
put his face on the ten dollar bill
least Ray spread so much joy
and one hellava lot of good will.

ronnie boy was a joy to many fools
who needed a king of sorts to lead
to take the place of mindful thought
not in the least bit a joyful seed.

he used false statements to create
images which were certainly grime
made sure the nation was to believe
Blacks were the only face of crime.

Oh Ray Charles, need your joyful tune 
singing songs our hearts could use
spreading love from music's cocoon
make it soul or country or even the blues.

ronald reagan's legacy, to me
today seems a re-write of the past
a damn lie is being sold to all
to make history's change to last.

so many wonderful things said
his reagonamics was a big joke
sent a bubble to inflate the money pot
damn near ruined the common folk.

Please, Ray Charles, sing it loud
drown out all the slime he brought
help make me feel warm and proud
let me find the peace I've sought.
