If I were not what I am
a sponge is what I'd be.
I would drain the sins from man's heart
and rinse myself at sea.
If I could but be a sponge
I would drain the wrongs from mind;
squeeze them up in me
and wash them away in time.
If I could but be a sponge
I would wipe up all the pain.
wring the world pure of cheats
and flush them away in rain.
If I had the power to absorb
the impurities of this earth
I would cleanse all the venom
which makes for man to hurt.
If I could but be a sponge
I would wipe the world's tears dry;
soak myself in eternity
never again to hear a cry.
If only I could be sponge
I would bring a halt to all crime.
Make the world safe and pure, forever,
TILL THE END OF TIME.

If you were a sponge you'd never hold anything for your own...and that would be a shame....I'd rather you were the man that you are...but this is an excellent write, all the same!

You have some kind and noble thoughts in this one. enjoyed it and I wish it could be that easy.. but the world would be a better place if more people loved instead of hated and were willing to forgive instead of keeping grudges.. Great write as always!
