So, you are history's breath
clear as tomorrow's rising sun
certainly you feel the warmth
tho love took off ... on the run
Love doesn't slice cleanly
as a knife cutting thru striated meat
it drags and tears away in portions
no section leaves the edges neat
Nothing I can do about it
desires linger in a pool of longing
forever, caught in a budget crunch
totally out of the box of belonging
I must ask of you one last gift
beg it does no harm to love's death
from your charity will you kiss me
one last kiss from history's breath.

I love that last line........One last kiss from historys breath. Perfect!
Rebecca
A kiss he requests from history
of which he refuses to be
but what should the historian give now when
the man really just can't see?
A life without his usual touch
is really not one at all
to live without history's golden pull
grays a goldened future pall
Death becomes not who we seek
but those who were left behind
and should we give up on history now
a future we will never find
So a kiss from history's breath is given
and a tear flowing from the cup
for history seen is sadness now
and from which we will never sup...
