Throw the Demons Out

As I traveled from coast to coast
My demons went along for the ride
they influenced my every action
being right there at my side.

There was not a glimpse of passion
When anger was leading the way
My demons controlled the outcome
And each word I chose to say.

Those critters were having a ball
Till I realized the fault was mine
And took charge of my own life
As I should have all the time.

I have learned from experience
You must put your demons aside
And if you don’t recall but one thing
never give them bastards a ride.
