Think I'll Call Off Today

Think I'll call off today
lack of interest to address
any of the issues of now
this, I must confess.

I'll slide back inside
my warm cocoon lair
skip this day's problems
poof, off into thin air.

Think I'll ignore today
tomorrow can come early
don't wish to be sour
nor brash and not surly.

If I can skip today
refuse to face reality
get a break from the horrors
the weight of mentality.

I know it will be there
when I open my cocoon
but a day of respite is
like a bright day in June.

I'll just call off today
relax and be at ease
start tomorrow off
joyfully, if you please.

If I Were Poetry

I would love respondants to write a poem and post it here as a comment. I have had this idea as a write for what seems like ages but my muse has failed to be kind. Auburn Dawn suggested .... wait, I'll just paste her words:

My buddy, Spencer, loves poetry and has a fine poetry journal.  Recently he asked me to collaborate on writing a poem with the theme of "If I were poetry".  Well, the wheels just started spinning in my little ole head and I could imagine all the poems that could come from that theme, funny, touching, deep, enlightening.... hmmm.

And wow...  what could other people come up with if they wrote on the same theme?  So, Spencer and I decided to throw out an invite to all the J-landers out there to write a poem, post it in their journal, and drop a link in Spencers Journal so we can see what everyone came up with!  Not a poet?  Well, give it a try anyway...  who knows, ya might find your calling.  ;)

Here's Spencer's Place.  Drop a link to your creation here.  The deadline for the link submission is June 22nd (next Wednesday) and we look forward to seeing ya'll there!

Thank you

Got this lovely write from Acrylic Stains

If I were Poetry....
I would start with "The"
And tell a story
Using syntax and dangling participles
Slide  into a person, place, or thing
Where sunshine and laughter is contagious
I would end with a memory,
If I were Poetry....
I'd gather words in a bucket
Sprinkle them like wildflowers on a page
That blooms endlessly before you
In colors of lavender and sage
Sprouting from the grains of textured Chinese paper.
If I were poetry....
You would want to fold the poem in your wallet
And Save it until you turned old and gray
Only showing those who love you
The ink of calligraphy
If I were Poetry...

The End.

If I were Poetry - #1

If I were poetry
in lotion’s frothy
bubble bath play
rubber-ducky croons
quaking water log
of notes best lost
to why I would be
‘Poetry’

A heart felt thanks to each and everyone of you who wrote and/or read a verse with the theme of "If I Were Poetry". I also thank Dawn for helping to get this off to a fantastic start. Perhaps others will do the same and more of us who love poetry will interact and find each other.

Blessings to all

Loves Confusion

How does one decide
when lust goes too far
needing to reach beyond
the place we now are.

What happens when
everything is on the line
tho your needs still growl
calling out all the time.

Every stroke or touch
raises the need to take
just one more step
within that stormy wake.

Knowing all along
life changes will come.
If I continue on this path
my whole world is mum.

All the wanting and need
the striking "if it only was"
Your heart knows the truth
and the real reasons because.

Yet you continue to creep
a little further on the way
and get closer to catastrophe
with each passing day.

Excuses fill your mind
head spinning from the need
body calls out in yearnings
as your soul hears the plead.

What do you do now
to justify the action
while each touch or kiss
creates a new reaction.

That storm within
makes life awfully dark.
Straining with decisions
but loving that new spark.

Beating my head on a wall
how did I let it go so far
wanting, needing, lusting
for all that you are.

Can it be called a mistake?
No way can it be only that
loving you and wanting you
makes my soul grow fat.

Nothing but holding you
squeezing you close to me
can make me get off center
the way I want it to be.

As If You Were A Dream

I felt the kiss upon my lips
tho fevered from the need
the softest of touch in the rain
begged you and I plead.

Not one inkling of fodder
was lost in the transaction.
My desire to love you was
balanced by your reaction.

Could feel the storm within
pleasantness of your grace.
The lights of night glowed
the passion on your face.

No civil salutations
could have affects, it seems.
I imagined you kissing my lips
as if you were.... but a dream.

Life's Black Cloud

Being an optimist as well
tend to ignore the black cloud
as I continue on a positive way
I just have to shout out loud.

Even when the rains come
I look past to see the light
tho the storm might be heavy
I struggle to keep it bright.

See, I've been in the mist of it
the heaviest of what can be.
Trauma beyond my wildest
nightmares have befallen me.

Somehow I made it thru
found my lighted guiding path.
Refused to bow under the weight
of the black cloud's heavy wrath.

Oh, there are times I share
silent raindrops in the mist
but thru the fog of it all
I still say I've really been kissed.

So don't worry bout that black cloud
it will always hang up in the sky
to remind us there is joy and love
as life goes on lumbering by.

Sanctuary

I'll clown my way thru the day
then smile to the world.
But when darkness comes
the tears shall unfurl.

I wear a bright and smiling mask
that few suspect or see beyond
but alone at night when all is dark
I let the sobs of loneliness come

I stand tall to many
yet humped so tired
needing some relief
from life's full mire.

Folks look to me for advice, support
when sometimes all I want is a hug
they expect my lively, happy nature
I sweep all the rest neatly under the rug

All the fits of the day
stir my heart's mix
Love crams my soul
to keep it really fixed.

I've been in love, been out of it too
but given the choice I'll take love any day
the intimacy . . . just the pure magick of touch
keeps the ache of loneliness safely at bay

I long for the days
I could run and jump
yet, now I am left
with only a lump.

I ring my neck when the stiffness sets in
elevate my feet every now and then
haven't taken to napping, no, not quite yet
but have seen days of running come to an end

Soft tears of wonderment
of days all but gone.
Time seems to wither
as if something is wrong.

Yet still there's a force way deep inside
that continues to inspire this youthful feeling
I manage to move through my day with wonder
the sight of a butterfly sets my heart reeling

Nothing but a wave
at the what used to be.
But I'll trudge on daily
taking what life gives to me.

If I could offer you anything at all
it would be the spirit that sparks your heart
to become timeless and light in the glow of love
just as you did for me, right from the start

All I Know Is

All I know is, her love,
the power of her kiss;
everything about her,
makes heaven less than this.

All I know is, her smile,
the sweetest beam as yet.
She just need look my way
the best of all, I bet.

All I know is, passion,
so powerful beyond all.
The thrill of her view
makes my senses have a ball.

Oh, my heavens the feels,
that throbing lustful joy
reaches past any normalcy
as if were an erotic ploy.

All I know is, that woman,
makes me happy as can be.
I love her to extremes
knowing, she's the best for me.
